A Safe and Respectful Environment for Everyone
At South Ottawa Medical Centre, the safety and well-being of our patients, physicians, staff, and visitors is our priority.

We are committed to providing a professional and respectful environment for everyone.

Abusive, threatening, intimidating, harassing, or aggressive behaviour will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

This includes, but is not limited to:

•  Yelling, swearing at, or verbally abusing staff, physicians, patients, or visitors

•  Threats, intimidation, harassment, bullying, or personal attacks

• Aggressive or confrontational behaviour

• Physical aggression or threatening physical contact

• Discriminatory, insulting, or inappropriate language or conduct

• Any behaviour that causes another person to feel threatened, intimidated, harassed, or unsafe

CONSEQUENCES
Anyone engaging in abusive, threatening, intimidating, or aggressive behaviour may be required to leave the clinic immediately.

Depending on the nature and severity of the behaviour, serious or repeated incidents may result in immediate dismissal from the practice and termination of the patient’s relationship with their physician and South Ottawa Medical Centre.

Where there is an immediate threat to the safety of any person, emergency services may be contacted.

We understand that patients may sometimes be frustrated, upset, or dissatisfied with their care. We are committed to listening to concerns and addressing them respectfully and appropriately.

However, frustration, disagreement, or dissatisfaction does not excuse abusive or threatening behaviour.

RESPECT IS EXPECTED FROM EVERYONE. SAFETY IS NON-NEGOTIABLE.
